Burn Brae Sunset Cabin

This snug one-room cabin sits on a hundred-acre private property that once grew stone fruit and now hosts a young feijoa orchard. The building started life as pickers' quarters and has generous verandahs facing north and west where you can settle in with the birdsong and wildlife around you. Inside you'll find a compact but complete setup with kitchen facilities, an ensuite shower and composting toilet that runs on rainwater from the tanks.

The real drawcard here is the stillness and the night sky. Ballandean's clear air and lack of light pollution mean you get stars in spades, and the property is registered with Land for Wildlife so the bush stays undisturbed. Basic provisions like tea and coffee are supplied but you'll need to bring your own food. Best suited to couples after genuine quiet rather than families with kids.
